A tribute to the forgotten session musicians of yesteryear.

In this series of linocuts, I wanted to simplify the musician’s form and deconstruct their instruments to a point where I could carve them into the lino to create a bold and graphic image. I selected three muted colours of a similar tone so that they would all work together in any combination.

I enjoyed breaking down the symmetry of the drum kit for this one. The musician is a nod to one of the greats, from the early days of the High Numbers.
